Laura Duve from Münster, Germany
I came to Borgarholtsskòli to do an internship in the course of my studies at the Westfälische Wilhelms university Münster. Back in Münster I study Philosophy and German to become a teacher. I decided to come to Iceland and BHS because I am really interested in the country and in teaching German as a foreign language. My first day at BHS was the 4th of September and I will leave Iceland on the 4th of October. During my stay, I organized lessons and taught in three different German classes together with Matthias (who is also here to do an Internship) and Sigurborg (the german teacher). Also, we helped Sigurborg in her lessons. For me those lessons are my first experiences as a teacher so I am thankful for the opportunities to learn teaching and to talk to other teachers – especially for the insights in teaching German as a foreign language. Besides that, it is really interesting for me to get to know the Icelandic school system. The relationship between teachers and students here is more relaxed and therefor more intimate than in Germany. To experience that was really inspiring for me and I will keep it in mind for my future career as a teacher. Sigurborg Jónsdóttir and Bernd Hammerschmidt german teachers in Borgarholtsskóla where the tutors.
