A student’s trip from Borgarholtsskóli to Denmark

A student’s trip from Borgarholtsskóli to Denmark the 22th  – 25th of  Mars, 2018

On the 22th of Mars, 12 Danish students went on a school trip to Denmark together with their teachers Hafdís Ágústsdóttir and Inga Jóhannsdóttir.
The purpose of the trip was to visit the Nordjyllands Idrætshøjskole, located in a beautiful small town north of Aalborg in Jylland. Contactperson were Thorunn Sigurjonsdottir teacher at the shool. The folk high-school tradition has a long history in Denmark and is an integral part of the Danish culture, therefore the group thought it was ideal to visit that kind of educational institution.

The school welcomed the Icelandic guests with healthy and good food, team building activities, songs and a campfire. In addition, the students were able to choose between a variety of exciting activities. However, despite the variety, the big climbing tower was the most popular among the group. Tired but pleased, the Icelandic group left the wonderful folk high school to visit Copenhagen; the capital of Denmark.

In Copenhagen, the class did end saw, a lot of interesting things and of course they went shopping but the highlight of the day was the trip to the oldest amusement park in the world. The park was beautifully decorated and the students enjoyed each other’s company. When the park closed, the group headed to the Dan-hostel, which luckily for the students was close to the park.

It was a short, but very successful trip. The students bonded well together and they were all on their best behavior which made the teachers proud, as well as their parents back home.
